Description
Hydrocotyle tripartita is a charming and versatile aquatic plant that has taken the aquascaping world by storm. Often sold under the name Hydrocotyle sp. 'Japan', it features deeply lobed, clover-like leaves that add a unique texture to any layout. Its light green coloration provides a beautiful contrast against darker plants, rocks, and wood.

Cultivation and Care
This plant is categorized as easy to grow, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced hobbyists. While it can survive in low-tech setups without CO2 injection, providing medium to high light and supplemental CO2 will encourage a much more compact, creeping growth habit. Under lower light, it tends to grow more vertically. Regular pruning by pressing it down or trimming the top layers will help maintain a dense, carpet-like appearance.
Aquascaping Application
Hydrocotyle tripartita is incredibly versatile. It is most commonly used in the foreground or middleground, where its creeping runners can quickly form a dense carpet. It can also be wedged between rocks or attached to driftwood, where it will cascade beautifully, creating a natural, overgrown look reminiscent of a weeping willow.
