Habitat and Environment
In their natural habitat, these shrimp live in warm, alkaline, and mineral-rich waters. It is essential to replicate these conditions in the aquarium by using specific mineral salts designed for Sulawesi shrimp. The tank should feature plenty of hiding spots, such as rocks and biofilms, which are crucial for their health and grazing behavior.

Water Parameters
Stability is the most important factor for these shrimp. They require high temperatures between 26 and 29 degrees Celsius and a consistently alkaline pH between 7.5 and 8.5. Water hardness should be monitored closely, as they are highly sensitive to sudden fluctuations in water chemistry and pollutants.

Diet and Feeding
They are primarily grazers that spend much of their time feeding on biofilms and algae found on rocks and substrate. In an aquarium, their diet can be supplemented with high-quality, specialized shrimp foods or blanched vegetables. Avoid overfeeding, as excess food can quickly degrade water quality, which these shrimp cannot tolerate.
Tank Mates and Behavior
Due to their specialized needs and delicate nature, it is highly recommended to keep these shrimp in a species-only tank. They are generally peaceful but can become stressed by aggressive or large tank mates. Molting and Breeding
Like all shrimp, they must molt their exoskeleton to grow, a process that requires stable water parameters and proper mineral content. Breeding is notoriously difficult in captivity. They produce a small number of large, well-developed young that do not go through a larval stage, but success depends entirely on maintaining pristine, stable, and species-appropriate environmental conditions.
